by Delynda Lardone

Maintaining a normal sugar level in your body is the main goal for every diabetic. If they let their sugar level get too high by eating some cheat sweet foods over a long time without trying to get it back to a normal level, major health problems can and will appear with their eyes, heart, nerves, and kidneys. So once a diabetic finds himself/herself in this position of having too sugar in his/her blood, he/she needs to find some natural ways to bring it back down.

I mentioned in my previously article that there were 5 good sources to incorporate into your diet that will help lower your blood sugar level and keep it stable. They were eating cinnamon, having some apple cider vinegar, drinking plenty of water, taking the herb ginseng, and exercising. Here are 5 additional ways that you can lower your blood sugar levels by adding them into your diet.

One is to watch what foods you do eat. Try to eat low-glycolic foods as they are digested by your body at a much slower rate thus keeping your blood sugar level stabilized. These foods include oatmeal, fruits, peas, peanuts, and granola. Hint: sprinkle 2 tablespoons of cinnamon into a bowl of oatmeal and you will have a tremendous meal that will make you full while keeping your blood sugar level even.

Another way is too drink decaffeinated coffee. Studies have shown that if you combine coffee with some simple sugar items like donuts or a Cinnabon cinnamon roll, that it will decrease the rise of your blood sugar level. It does this because of a chemical that is found in the plant that helps slow the rate at which your intestines absorb the sugar. Please note however, caffeinated coffee does not do this.

Sit down, take a deep breath, relax, and lower your blood sugar level. Yes, relaxation can actually help lower the amount of sugar that is in your bloodstream. Stress, on the other hand, is a bad culprit that actually releases a chemical that causes our blood sugar to rise. So, try to avoid stress and seek to get some daily relaxation in into your schedule.

Another way to lower your blood sugar is to eat garlic and onions. It does give you bad breath, but the benefits it gives you are much better. There is a certain chemical that stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin, thus helping lower your blood sugar.

A good laugh a day will keep the blood sugar spikes away. Yes, laughing lowers your blood sugar level. A group of scientists in Japan found this out in a study they performed. They said when people laugh, their body starts excreting a certain chemical that actually works to lower your blood sugar level.

Diabetics have to closely watch their daily diet so they can keep their blood sugar level at a stable level, which is a constant battle. They need to seek out ways in which they can lower their blood sugar level to steer clear of major health problems. If you just integrate all these tips into your diabetic diet, you will soon find it is quite easy to keep your blood sugar level normal.
